FREE DPF, AdBlue and EGR diagnostics in Brasov

Find out the real condition of your emissions control systems, at no cost, with no obligation and no surprises.

Your car's emissions control systems, DPF, AdBlue (SCR) and EGR, are essential for the engine to run correctly and to meet emissions standards. At the same time, they are among the most sensitive and expensive systems when problems appear.

At AMC Motorsport Brasov, we offer complete, free diagnostics for all three systems. Not just a simple fault code read, but an in-depth analysis with professional equipment, followed by a clear explanation in plain language.

Why do the DPF, EGR and AdBlue fail? Real causes

Before you come to us, it helps to understand why these systems fail so often.

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) clogs up especially on cars used in city traffic. Automatic regeneration, the process by which the filter cleans itself, needs high temperatures, which are not reached at low speeds and over short distances. The result: a clogged filter, the engine in limp mode, high costs.

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas back into the engine to reduce NOx emissions. Over time, carbon deposits jam the valve: either it stays permanently open (high fuel consumption, reduced power), or it sticks closed (fault codes and limp mode).

The AdBlue (SCR) system injects a urea solution into the exhaust gas. The pump, NOx sensors and lines are common failure points, especially on high-mileage vehicles and on heavily used lorries or vans.

All three have one thing in common: small problems left undetected become major repairs. Timely diagnostics can make the difference between a 300 RON (Romanian lei) clean and a 3,000 RON replacement.

Symptoms: how to spot a problem before it is too late

A warning light does not always come on. Here are the signs many drivers ignore:

Faulty DPF symptoms

  • DPF warning light on (filter symbol with dots)
  • Frequent regenerations with a burning smell
  • Sudden increase in fuel consumption
  • Noticeable loss of power, especially when accelerating
  • Limp mode, the car only goes up to ~90 km/h

Faulty EGR symptoms

  • Rough idle, engine "knocking"
  • Black or blue smoke from the exhaust
  • Higher fuel consumption with no apparent cause
  • Fault codes P0400-P0409 on the scanner
  • Hesitant acceleration, as if something is "pulling back"

Faulty AdBlue / SCR symptoms

  • AdBlue level warning too often (the tank empties quickly)
  • "Car will not start" message after X km
  • Engine light on with a NOx or SCR code
  • Unusual smell from the exhaust

If you recognise at least one of these symptoms, free diagnostics at AMC Motorsport can clear up the situation the same day.

What the free diagnostics at AMC Motorsport includes

We don't just read codes with a 200 euro scanner. Our in-depth diagnostics includes:

For the DPF

  • Reading the filter load level (as a percentage)
  • Checking the front/rear differential pressure
  • Analysing the regeneration history (how many, at what intervals, successful or failed)
  • Checking the related temperature and pressure sensors

For the EGR

  • Testing the valve position and response
  • Checking actual flow vs. commanded flow
  • Reading operating parameters in real time
  • Identifying carbon deposits by analysing the adaptive values

For AdBlue / SCR

  • Checking the pump and injection pressure
  • Testing the level sensor and the NOx sensors (upstream/downstream)
  • Checking the SCR catalyst temperature
  • Reading all active and stored fault codes

At the end you get a clear explanation: what we found, how serious it is, what your real options are, and what each one costs. You decide what to do next.

What happens if a problem is found?

The diagnostics remains 100% free, whatever the result.

If we identify a problem, we present the available options, from preventive maintenance to more complex interventions, and explain the real costs of each. There is no pressure and there are no mandatory packages.

If everything is fine, you leave with the peace of mind that the systems are working correctly. Zero pressure. Zero false promises.

Frequently asked questions about DPF, AdBlue and EGR diagnostics

How long do the DPF, AdBlue and EGR diagnostics take?

Usually 30-60 minutes, depending on how many systems we check and on the complexity of the car. We tell you the exact duration when you book.

Do I need warning lights on to come in?

No. Many early-stage problems do not yet produce visible faults. That is why preventive diagnostics is worthwhile: you catch the problem before it gets worse.

Are the diagnostics really free? Are there no hidden costs?

Yes, they are completely free and without obligation. You pay nothing for the diagnostics, whatever the result.

Can I come in even if the car has no warning light on?

Absolutely. We recommend preventive diagnostics for any Euro 5/Euro 6 diesel car with more than 100,000 km or with frequent DPF regenerations.

Which makes do you check?

We work with all major makes: Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Opel, Renault, Dacia, Skoda, Seat, Peugeot, Citroen, Volvo, Land Rover, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Iveco, Fiat and others.

Can I get diagnostics for a lorry or a commercial van?

Yes. We also have experience with commercial vehicles: Ford Transit, VW Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter, Iveco Daily, Renault Master.
