7 real upgrades, not marketing promises

We remap the gearbox's TCU (Transmission Control Unit) to take the driving experience to the next level. Each parameter is calibrated individually and correlated with the engine ECU.

01

Increased clutch pressure

Optimisation of the clamping pressure for more precise torque transfer. The upgrade that makes shifts firmer and more direct. A Stage 1 on the engine works very well without it, but with optimised pressure the experience moves up a level.

Recommended: Stage 1+
02

Removal of torque limiters (torque caps)

The DSG has its own torque thresholds, separate from the ECU. By adjusting them, the gearbox works even better with the remapped engine: shifts become more precise, response more direct. It is an extra step that you feel immediately.

All gearboxes
03

Shift speed optimisation

Shift time reduction calibrated per mode: more aggressive in S/Sport mode, smoother and gentler in D/Comfort mode. Not just "faster", but smarter.

Performance + comfort
04

Complete rewrite of the shift maps

D mode: optimised for efficiency and lower fuel consumption. S mode: holds boost and no longer shifts up prematurely. Manual: no auto-upshift, full control.

All modes
05

Custom Launch Control

Adjustable RPM (e.g. 3,000 → 4,000 rpm), optimised slip control. Controlled and repeatable standing starts, available on wet-clutch gearboxes.

DQ250 · DQ381 · DQ500 · DL501+
06

Disabling factory restrictions

Kickdown disabled, auto-upshift removed from manual mode, creep mode adjusted. The gearbox does exactly what you ask of it, without unwanted interventions from the original software.

Full personalisation
07

Optimised temperature and protections

Raised thermal protection threshold (with care and calculation), optimised cooling logic. The gearbox no longer goes into protection prematurely, but stays safe in the long term.

What we can and cannot do

We do not promise what cannot be delivered. These are the real limitations of each platform, so you can make an informed decision.

DQ200limited

It does NOT handle high torque. Any "Stage 2 DSG" on a DQ200 is marketing. We can optimise comfort and remove lag, but the approach has to be conservative. The dry clutch limits the options.

DQ250robust and versatile

It handles high torque well on Stage 1. On projects with more torque, clutch pressure tuning adds extra safety and longevity. A reliable and very popular gearbox.

DQ381 / DQ500the most capable

They handle aggressive tuning safely. The DQ500 is built for high torque from the factory (RS3, TTRS). The ideal platforms for power projects.

DQ400ehybrid complexity

The hybrid system adds a lot of complexity. Tuning is limited to shift optimisation. We do not recommend aggressive work on the PHEV platform.

DL501capable, but costly

Very capable for tuning. But if the mechatronics or the clutch fail, the costs are significant. We work carefully and monitor wear.

DL800high-end RS

Porsche-derived, it handles enormous torque (800+ Nm). Advanced tuning available. An excellent platform for seriously modified RS6/RS7 cars.

What sets us apart from the rest of the market

The difference between a generic DSG tune and one done properly? It all comes down to adaptation. We calibrate individually, we do not apply files.

Correlated ECU + TCU tuning

When you add DSG tuning to an engine that is already remapped, the gearbox gets torque limits that match the engine. With DSG Custom we go further: we fully correlate the torque model, so the gearbox knows exactly what the engine produces. The result: a far better driving experience.

Adaptation to the real condition of the gearbox

A clutch with 80,000 km on it does not get the same pressure as a new one. We calibrate taking real wear into account: too much pressure on worn plates does more harm than good.

Your verdict matters most

A ten-minute test drive does not tell the whole story. You drive for a few days on your own roads, and if you want the shifts firmer, smoother or at a different point, you come back and we adjust them free of charge, within what the gearbox allows. No gearbox software comes out perfect for everyone on the first try.

We refuse what cannot be done safely

If a particular job does not make sense on your gearbox, we tell you directly. We do not offer Stage 2 DSG on a DQ200, and we do not promise launch control on a dry clutch. We prefer an honest recommendation.

DSG tuning: 2 options

Both include diagnostics, individual calibration and free adjustments after you drive the car. DSG Stage 1 has a fixed price. DSG Custom is discussed for your car.

DSG tuning in 4 steps

We do not apply generic files. Each gearbox is read, analysed and calibrated individually, then tuned to how it feels to you behind the wheel.

  1. Diagnostics and TCU readFull check of the gearbox, read of the original software, assessment of clutch wear and analysis of the current parameters.
  2. Individual calibrationWe adapt the pressure, shift maps, torque limits and the torque model, correlated with the ECU remap.
  3. Writing and checkingWe load the calibration onto the TCU and check the shifts in all modes (D, S, manual), the response and the pressure.
  4. Your verdictYou drive for a few days. If you want something adjusted, you come back and we tune it free of charge, within what the gearbox allows.

Frequently asked questions about DSG tuning

I already have Stage 1 on the engine. Is DSG tuning worth it?

Stage 1 on the engine works perfectly without DSG tuning, exactly as we delivered it. DSG tuning is the next step, an upgrade to the experience: faster shifts, more direct response, a Sport mode that holds boost better. If you have Stage 1 and want to take everything to the next level, tuning the gearbox is the most enjoyable improvement you can add. It does not correct anything, it raises everything to a higher standard.

What difference will I actually feel after DSG tuning?

Almost instant gear changes, S mode holds boost and no longer shifts up prematurely, manual mode does exactly what you ask without auto-upshift, quicker and more linear acceleration, and (on wet-clutch gearboxes) controlled launch control. Many customers say the car feels completely different.

Can the DQ200 gearbox be remapped aggressively?

No, and it is important to be honest about it. The DQ200 has a dry clutch and does not handle high torque. Any "Stage 2 DSG" on a DQ200 is marketing, not technical reality. We can optimise shift comfort, remove lag and make small adjustments, but the approach has to stay conservative.

Which DSG gearboxes handle tuning best?

The DQ381 and DQ500 are the most capable platforms. The DQ500 is built from the factory for high torque (RS3, TTRS) and handles Stage 2/3. The DQ250 is robust, very popular and copes very well on Stage 1. With DSG tuning added, the experience goes up even further. On longitudinal platforms, the DL501 is excellent, and the DL800 handles over 800 Nm.

What is launch control and which gearboxes does it work on?

Launch control allows controlled standing starts with adjustable RPM (e.g. 3,000 → 4,000 rpm) and optimised slip control. Available on wet-clutch gearboxes: DQ250, DQ381, DQ500, DL501, DL800. On the DQ200 (dry clutch) and DQ400e (hybrid) it cannot be enabled safely.

How long does DSG tuning take?

On average 1.5-2 hours: diagnostics, calibration, writing and checking. For Custom projects or seriously modified cars, an additional fine-tuning session may be needed.

Is the DSG gearbox warranty lost after tuning?

A TCU remap is a software modification. Like any tuning, it may affect the manufacturer's warranty on transmission components. We discuss this openly before any work. We keep the original backup and can go back to stock at any time.

Which cars are compatible with DSG tuning?

Any VAG vehicle fitted with DSG or S tronic: Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Cupra. DQ200/DQ250/DQ381/DQ500/DQ400e on transverse platforms (FWD/Haldex), DL501/DL382/DL800 on longitudinal platforms (Audi Quattro). From the Golf and A3 up to the RS6, RS7 and Transporter.

How do I know which DSG gearbox I have?

Send us your chassis number (VIN) on WhatsApp. We identify the exact gearbox model, the internal VAG code (0AM, 0D9, 0B5 etc.), the TCU software version and the tuning options. Alternatively, the code is on the gearbox casing or in the service book.

Does DSG tuning affect fuel consumption?

Under normal conditions, fuel consumption stays the same: D mode is actually optimised for efficiency. Fuel consumption only increases if you use S mode constantly or do launches. Exactly as with any car driven in a sporty way.

Can I go back to the original DSG gearbox software?

Yes. The gearbox's original software stays in our archive with no time limit, and we can write it back at any time, for example before you sell the car. Going back is free when the gearbox is reprogrammed through the diagnostic port; if the gearbox computer has to be removed or can only be written on the bench or in boot mode, the labour is charged.

Can I come from another city?

Certainly. We have customers from all over Romania. The process takes 1.5-2 hours on average, so you can come and leave on the same day. Book on WhatsApp a few days in advance, especially for weekends.

80% of the market = DQ250 + DQ381. Which gearbox do you have?

Send us your VIN on WhatsApp: we identify the gearbox and tell you the options and the exact price. No obligation.
