Stage 1 (also called a Stage 1 remap or Stage 1 software) is an optimisation of the software in the engine control unit, with no hardware changes. The turbo, injectors, exhaust and intercooler stay stock.
The calibration works on the engine control strategies: torque request and management, internal limiters, boost pressure, injection quantity and timing, ignition timing and throttle response. Everything is adjusted within the safety margins of the original components, so the engine uses the reserve left in it at the factory.

General ranges. The exact figure for your engine is in the calculator: an average value from repeated dyno measurements. On all-wheel drive we only measure Haldex systems on the dyno (VW, Skoda, Seat and Cupra with a transverse engine, Audi A3 and TT), with the rear axle disengaged; on the others (for example Audi quattro on other models, BMW xDrive, Mercedes 4MATIC) we work with road logs.
Stage 1 starts from 1,499 RON. For half of the engines in the catalogue the price is between 1,499 RON and 1,799 RON. The price is final: diagnostics and the dyno measurement before and after are included.
The price varies between cars because of the ECU (some are read through OBD, others have to be removed and read on the bench or unlocked), the complexity of the engine (bi-turbo, hybrid) and the calibration time on the dyno.
With automatic gearbox (TCU) tuning in the COMBO package, the gearbox costs less. All prices, including the gearbox, Eco tuning and the dyno test: the chiptuning price guide. Gearbox on its own: from 1,499 RON.
