S tronic, Tiptronic and DSG gearbox tuning
Automatic gearboxes have their own torque thresholds, separate from the engine ECU. After Stage 1, we calibrate them for the new torque so they shift firmly and do not cut power. We work on the S tronic DL501, DL382 and DL800, on the ZF 8HP Tiptronic in the A6, A8 and Q7, and on the DQ series in the A1, A3, Q2 and Q3.
- No torque limitersFull torque in every gear
- Clutch pressureAdapted to the new torque and to the actual wear of the gearbox
- Improved shift timesFirmer in S, smoother in D
- Shift mapsIn S it holds the revs, no premature upshifts
- Launch controlAdjustable launch rpm, on wet-clutch gearboxes
- True manual modeNo automatic upshift at the limiter
- Kickdown and creepAdjusted to how you drive
- Thermal protectionAdjusted by calculation, not disabled
What to watch for on an Audi
What every owner should know about their engine and gearbox, before and after tuning. We check these during diagnostics and tell you openly what we found, even if it has nothing to do with the remap.
1.8 and 2.0 TFSI: oil consumption
On the first generations, the piston rings can lead to high oil consumption. An engine that burns oil is not a good candidate for more torque until it has been checked.
2.0 TDI: the EGR and the particulate filter
On short trips, the EGR clogs up and the particulate filter does not get the chance to regenerate. We check them during diagnostics, because a choked engine cannot show what it can do on the dyno either.
2.0 TDI PD: the cylinder head
If the car uses coolant without visible leaks, that is the first sign the cylinder head has problems. On an engine like this we do not increase torque until it has been checked.
2.0 TSI new generation: the coolant
The water pump and the thermostat can develop small leaks, which first show up as a dropping level in the expansion tank. An engine that overheats does not handle more power well.
3.0 TDI: timing and oil pressure
The chains are at the back of the engine and are hard to replace, so a noise on start-up is worth checking. The latest-generation engines also have oil pressure that is too low in certain conditions; we correct it in software, optionally, with Stage 1.
S tronic DL501: the gearbox oil
The gearbox is capable, but a mechatronics or clutch repair is expensive. Changing the oil on time matters more than any software.

Audi chiptuning in short
Can the automatic gearbox handle Stage 1?
Yes. The S tronic DL501, DL382 and DL800, the ZF 8HP Tiptronic and the DQ250 and DQ381 gearboxes in the A3 and Q3 handle Stage 1 without problems. Gearbox tuning is not a requirement for Stage 1, it is an upgrade: the gearbox no longer cuts torque, it shifts more firmly, and the pressure is adapted to the new torque. It costs from 1,499 RON, and in the COMBO Stage 1 ECU + TCU package you get 499 RON off the final price.
What extras do I get with Stage 1 or Stage 2 on an Audi?
On request and free of charge, we update the engine and gearbox software to the manufacturer's latest versions, and we can raise the speed limiter.
Can I go back to the original software on an Audi?
Yes. The original software of your Audi stays in our archive with no time limit. Going back through the diagnostic port is free; when the ECU has to be removed or written on the bench or in boot mode, the labour is charged.
How long does chiptuning take on an Audi?
On average 1.5-2 hours, including diagnostics and the dyno measurement before and after. When the ECU has to be read on the bench or unlocked, it can take longer; we tell you when you make the booking.
What happens to the Audi warranty?
If the car is still under warranty, the manufacturer's warranty may be affected for the engine and transmission if the dealer detects the modification. We discuss the risks and options beforehand, and the original software stays saved so you can return to stock at any time. Our calibration comes with 24 months of technical support. Details on the FAQ page.
Which Audi engines do you work on?
Most diesel and petrol engines, from the 2.0 and 3.0 TDI to the 1.8, 2.0 and 3.0 TFSI, including the S and RS models. The exact figures for your engine are in the configurator on this page.
